Sonya Deville Almost Had Her Head Shaved At SummerSlam 2020

Sonya Deville Almost Had Her Head Shaved At SummerSlam 2020

The match between Sonya Deville and Mandy Rose at WWE SummerSlam 2020 was originally advertised as a Hair vs. Hair match, but was changed to a Loser Leave Town match last minute.

During an interview with Josh Martinez of Superstar Crossover, Deville revealed what the original plan would have been had the match stayed a Hair vs. Hair match.

"It would have been shaved. I would have rocked the buzz. That's what hair vs. hair is, I would have rocked it."

On how the idea evolved:

"It was kind of week-by-week and fly by the coattails. I remember having a conversation with Vince when I got back and I was like, 'what are we doing with the plan?' I had a couple of ideas. He had a different vision. We were throwing things at each other. I was like, 'I have a three-piece suit, I think it would be cool to have that be part of my character like a power strength role.' I was explaining to him how I saw my character evolving. He was like, 'You have a suit? Go get it.' Long story short, that was his vision. 'Let's put her in an authority role, she fits perfect.' He saw me as that and we started as Adam Pearce's assistant, I moved my way up the ranks, and I'm running both brands now. It definitely evolved as we went along and was a week-by-week thing."
