Former WWE Superstar and current Ring of Honor Wrestling star Maria Kanellis-Bennett was recently a guest on Women's Wrestling Talk on YouTube. During the interview, Maria claimed that former WWE Senior Director of Talent Relations Mark Carrano told her that WWE would never again hold a women's pay-per-view after the 2018 Evolution pay-per-view, despite the fact that the show was widely considered to be an overwhelming success.
The following is a quote from Maria, courtesy of Mandatory.com:
“Mark Carrano said that it will never happen again. And I mean, now I’m sure because there is such a buzz about it, I’m sure they’re gonna try and find a way of doing it again. But as far as I knew, when I left the company, Evolution was never happening again. And I think the reason why they did it the first time was more of a PR stunt than it was a real action. A real statement about women in wrestling.”
