Former longtime WWE ring announcer Tony Chimel and a number of other employees have been released from the company this past Friday, according to PWInsider.
The cuts are part of WWE's drive to cut budgets and are mostly believed to be employees behind the scenes and those in headquarters in Stamford, Connecticut. It is understood around 10-15 people were let go.
Chimel has been with the company since the late 80s
Another longstanding name let go was Derek Casselman who was WWE’s Director of Venue Merchandise for Remote Operations and had been with WWE since 1993.
More names are expected to be revealed soon.
