Recently released WWE Superstar Zack Ryder recently did a Q&A on his Instagram in which he talked about a number of topics including the pitching of the idea for the Internet Championship, which was turned down by WWE management.
Ryder recalled how he had pitched the idea for the Internet Championship but not only his idea was denied, he was also told by WWE officials that he was a mark for himself:
"So I was presenting it to someone to, you know, to get approval to wear it on television. I was denied and I was told that I’m a mark for myself, which isn’t true. But like I said, I didn’t actually think I was the Million Dollar Champion or the Internet champion. I explained. It’s just like the Million Dollar Championship, right? It’s an accessory. It’s cool because with a gimmick and you could have sold these things."
Ryder recently trademarked the term "Internet Champion" so it will be interesting to see if he creates his own title now he is a free agent.
