WWE Hall of Famer Jerry 'The King' Lawler has said that the WWE piping in crowd noise for WrestleMania wouldn't work.
Lawler, 70, has appeared at numerous WrestleManias, but this year's event will be the first to happen without a live crowd, due to the COVID-19 virus.
Speaking to Commercial Appeal, the King said how he is familiar with venues piping in crowd noise, and it wouldn't hurt for WWE to do the same for their current empty-arena shows, and WrestleMania. He said:
“I’ve been to (football) training camps where the players go through their practice sessions with loud music or crowd noise piped in. I don’t think it would hurt anything at all if they piped in some crowd noise behind the matches. And even explain it to the fans. It’ll make the matches more entertaining and it’ll make it easier for the performers themselves.”
This past week, WWE confirmed that WrestleMania 36 will take place at the Performance Center, instead of its original planned venue of the Raymond James Stadium, in Tampa, Florida.
