We reported yesterday on the tragic passing of independent wrestler Matt Travis, who worked extensively on the NYC indy scene. In an update, NBC New York reported the following about this death:
“A dump truck driver struck and killed a cyclist in East Harlem before fleeing the scene, police said.
The 25-year-old man was traveling south on a bike path coming off the Willis Avenue Bridge around 2:30 a.m. Saturday when a Kenworth dump truck driver traveling south on 1st Avenue made an illegal left turn onto East 125th Street in an attempt to get onto the bridge, a preliminary NYPD investigation found.
As the dump truck was turning, it struck the cyclist, sending him to the ground with severe body trauma, according to police.
The cyclist was taken to Harlem Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, police said.
WrestlingNewsSource.com sends out our deepest and heartfelt condolences to the friends and family of Matt Travis.
