WWE Reportedly Interested In Purchasing Dragon Gate Following Failed Stardom Aquisition

The WWE are reportedly interested in purchasing the Dragon Gate promotion to help build their planned NXT Japan brand.

According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the McMahon-led promotion reached out to the company several months ago to help provide wrestlers for the NXT Japan branch, which would follow in a similar vein to NXT UK.

As previously reported, WWE failed to purchase the Stardom promotion due to the former's lack of planning regarding the company.

If Stardom had been purchased, this would have changed the all-female promotion's entire structure and would have affected Stardom's 100-125 yearly house show schedule.

Instead, Stardom CEO Hiroshi 'Rossy' Ogawa sold to the parent company of New Japan, where they'll be run as an independent entity.
