WWE has long been trying to establish a presence in Japan and part of that plan has been to launch an NXT Japan much like NXT UK.
There are rumors that NXT Japan could be the big announcement WWE has planned for Friday and Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer has confirmed WWE has been working on a project in Japan.
Meltzer revealed that WWE has talked with a number of companies in Japan about a potential deal and reportedly even tried to purchase Pro Wrestling NOAH, but the deal fell through.
In addition, Meltzer notes that WWE is trying to sign Japanese talent to become trainers for the new brand and Meltzer has some names rumored but hasn't been able to fully confirm.
