Vince Russo, a key figure in the Monday Night War back in the 90s has taken to Twitter to blast WWE for congratulating AEW on their recent ratings success with the debut of AEW Dynamite on TNT.
He slammed the gesture as "weak."
Here is what he said:
WWE— Vince Russo (@THEVinceRusso) October 3, 2019
"Congratulations to AEW on a successful premiere. The real winners of last night's head-to-head telecasts of NXT on USA Network & AEW on TNT are the fans, who can expect Wednesday nights to be a competitive and wild ride as this is a marathon, not a one-night sprint."
Wonder if @WWE is going to start a trend of companies putting their rivals/competition over. Like maybe Coke telling customers to try Pepsi. @VinceMcMahon what the !@#$% happened to your BRAVADO, BRO?!!! pic.twitter.com/vJ1CTG9HMc— Vince Russo (@THEVinceRusso) October 3, 2019
Wednesday's AEW Dynamite scored 1.4 million viewers on TNT against WWE NXT on USA Network which pulled in 891,000 viewers.
