WWE NXT & AEW Dynamite Quick Results (10/2/19)

Below are quick results for tonight’s editions of both WWE NXT & AEW Dynamite:

WWE NXT

*Adam Cole def. Matt Riddle to retain the NXT Championship. Following the match, Finn Balor makes a surprise appearance and confronts Cole, announcing that he has officially returned to NXT.

*The Velveteen Dream cuts a promo in which he challenges Roderick Strong to a rematch for the NXT North American Championship.

*It is announced that on next week’s broadcast, Drew Gulak will defend what is now being referred to as the NXT Cruiserweight Championship against Lio Rush.

*Io Shirai def. Mia Yim.

*WWE Hall of Famers Kevin Nash and Scott Hall are shown in the crowd.

*Johnny Gargano def. Shane Thorne.

*Shayna Baszler def. Candice LeRae to retain the NXT Women’s Championship.

*It is announced that on next week’s broadcast, Kushida will face WWE United Kingdom Champion WALTER in a non-title match.

*Pete Dunne def. Danny Burch. Following the match, Dunne is attacked by Damian Priest.

*Kyle O’Reilly & Bobby Fish def. The Street Profits to retain the NXT Tag Team Championship. Following the match, the two are congratulated by NXT Champion Adam Cole until Tommaso Ciampa makes his surprise return. Ciampa stares at both Cole and the NXT Championship.

AEW Dynamite

*Jim Ross, Excalibur, and Tony Schiavone welcome us to the broadcast.

*Cody def. Sammy Guevara. Following the match, Tony Schiavone prepares to interview Cody, but Cody is interrupted by Guevara, who asks for a post-match handshake. Cody is then attacked from behind by All Elite Wrestling World Champion Chris Jericho.

*MJF def. Brandon Cutler.

*Kevin Smith and Jason Mewes are shown at ringside and are interviewed by Chris Van Vliet. They plug their upcoming movie until they are interrupted by Angelico and Jack Evans. Private Party then come to the aid of Smith and Mewes.

*A pre-taped segment is shown featuring SoCal Uncensored in front of the White House. The team is then interviewed by Tony Schiavone, in which it is revealed that Christopher Daniels and Frankie Kazarian will represent SCU in the AEW Tag Team Championship Tournament. They are then interrupted by The Lucha Brothers, and the two teams then brawl.

*PAC def. “Hangman” Adam Page.

*Riho def. Nyla Rose to become the first-ever All Elite Wrestling Women’s World Champion. Following the match, Michael Nakazawa attempts to interview Riho, but Rose attacks both of them, with Nakazawa getting powerbombed. As Rose attempts to attack Riho, she is stopped by Kenny Omega.

*All Elite Wrestling World Champion Chris Jericho, Santana & Ortiz def. Kenny Omega & The Young Bucks. During the match, Jon Moxley attacks Omega and the two brawl away from the ring. Following the match, Jericho, Santana, and Ortiz attack The Young Bucks until Cody rushes to the ring and attacks Jericho. Sammy Guevara then rushes to the ring and hits Cody with a low blow before Dustin Rhodes then appears and hits Guevara with a low blow. Jake Hager (formerly WWE’s Jack Swagger) then rushes to the ring and attacks Cody, the Bucks, and Dustin before hitting a gut wrench powerbomb on Dustin through the timekeeper’s table that had been placed in the ring. The broadcast ends with Jericho, Santana, Ortiz, Guevara, and Hager standing tall.
