In an update regarding CM Punk returning to WWE, WrestleVotes noted on Twitter that an insider WWE source told them "probably not now, but eventually."
Speculation regarding Punk returning to WWE ignited when he was reported to have had a trial for a hosting role for the upcoming FOX studio show 'WWE Backstage.'
Re: CM Punk... I asked, I got back nothing definitive, as it should be. If and when it happens, it should be super quiet. One source went on to say “probably not now, but eventually” so that’s that.

Punk today appeared on The Kevin & Bean Show in which he was asked if he would be appearing on SmackDown on FOX, to which Punk responded, "When is SmackDown, is that tonight?"
Punk was also asked about his tryout for WWE Backstage on FS1, to which he said, "You mean to tell me you'd watch a show where I talk about wrestling?" downplaying rumors.
He then reminisced about the night The Rock called him live from the ring during a post-Raw dark segment in February 2017 and he didn't take the call.
He said when The Rock appears on Friday's SmackDown on FOX he should give him a call
"I'm not trying to put this out... gee, hopefully, people don't do this, but do you remember the last time The Rock was in the Staples Center?"
He added, "Let's do it again. When is this show, next Friday? Dwayne, call me Friday."
...and on if he missed pro wrestling:
"I don’t miss wrestling, no. I guess maybe if I missed anything it would be performing, because there very much is a rush to your music hitting and going out, to be able to read a crowd and give them what you think they want, and not necessarily give the crowd what they want because as a performer, you almost have to be objective. ... I always appreciated and enjoyed [telling a story]."
