AJ Styles: Shawn Michaels Turned Down Dream Match Between Us

WWE United States Champion AJ Styles has said Shawn Michaels turned down an offered dream match between the pair, in an interview with WWE. 

Speaking as part of SummerSlam weekend, Styles revealed that he wanted a match between the two after the Showstopper returned to the ring at Crown Jewel, though Michaels said no.

Styles said: "I would have loved the opportunity to get in the ring with him. I asked Shawn about a match and he said ‘No.’ I can’t do anything about that. I would love the opportunity to have a match. But I get where he’s coming from. When I retire, I want to remain retired too."
