Lucha Libre legend Perro Aguayo Sr. passed away yesterday at the age of 73, according to a report from F4WOnline.com/The Wrestling Observer Newsletter.
Perro was the inaugural WWE Light Heavyweight Champion (before the version of the championship that appeared during the Attitude Era) when WWE had a working relationship with the Lucha Libre Internacional (LLI)/Universal Wrestling Association (UWA) back in the 1980s. He was one of the founding fathers of the Lucha Libre AAA Worldwide promotion and was one of their biggest box office draws in their early years.
His passing comes four years after the tragic passing of his son, Perro Aguayo Jr., who died after an in-ring accident.
WNS would like to extend our condolences to the family, friends and fans of Perry Aguayo Sr.
