In the main event of tonight’s WWE Stomping Grounds event, Seth Rollins defeated Baron Corbin to retain the Universal Championship.
Prior to the start of the match, Corbin revealed that his choice for special guest referee for the match was Lacey Evans, who lost to Rollins’s girlfriend Becky Lynch at the beginning of the broadcast in a match that saw Lynch retain the Raw Women’s Championship.
During the match, Evans clearly made it clear that she would be showing favor toward Corbin, even going so far as to make the match No Countout, No Disqualification.
Evans would also get physically involved in the match to help Corbin, slapping Rollins and even hitting him with a low blow. Lynch would then appear and attack Evans, which was permitted under the No Disqualification stipulation.
WWE officials would then rush down and separate Lynch and Evans, which would then lead to referee John Cone - the referee during the last title match between Rollins and Corbin at WWE Super ShowDown - to enter the ring and take over.
Rollins would then go on to hit Corbin with a Stomp and pin him for the victory. Following the match, Rollins and Lynch left the ring together.
