Special Guest Referee Announced For Universal Championship Match At WWE Stomping Grounds

On tonight’s edition of WWE Monday Night Raw, it was announced that at the upcoming WWE Stomping Grounds event, a special guest referee will officiate the Universal Championship match between champion Seth Rollins and challenger Baron Corbin.

It was initially hinted that the special guest referee would be Sami Zayn; however, despite earlier reports, this has not yet been officially confirmed, as Corbin has since revealed in a backstage segment that he will be “making some phone calls” and “conducting some interviews” to determine who his choice should be.

Corbin made the announcement after revealing that WWE official John Cone had been “severely punished” by WWE executives following the title match between Rollins and Corbin at WWE Super ShowDown, in which Cone lashed out verbally at Corbin after being verbally abused by Corbin for most of the match.
