Immediately following the All Elite Wrestling Double or Nothing pay-per-view, Cody Rhodes participated in a press conference and was asked about his efforts to include diversity in AEW. Cody spoke about being in an interracial marriage with his wife Brandi, and mentioned that he has learned a lot about racial issues since being with his wife:
“I told Brandi one time that I don’t see color and she said ‘well, then you don’t see my experience,’” - @CodyRhodes on how being in an interracial marriage has helped with diversity in @AEWrestling and why diversity will be a way of life and not a publicity stunt. pic.twitter.com/bucN8KBVUM

Cody's comments prompted a response from United States congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, who praised Cody for sharing his experiences:
This exchange is a promising peek into what growth looks like in our national discourse on race.
