At tonight’s WWE Money in the Bank event, Rey Mysterio defeated Samoa Joe to become the brand new United States Champion.

At the conclusion of the match, a replay was shown in which it was revealed that during the count administered by the referee, Joe’s left shoulder did not stay on the mat; however, the referee appeared to not see this. Additionally, Mysterio’s son Dominick came to the ring to congratulate his father. As the two left the ring to head backstage, Joe emerged and attacked Mysterio in front of Dominick.

Mysterio’s victory marks his first reign as champion, as well as makes him a Grand Slam Champion in WWE.
