WWE Wanted Joey Ryan To Work NXT Developmental

WWE reportedly recently had talks with top independent star Joey Ryan about working in their developmental system, according to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter.
Ryan was asked if he would be willing to move to Orlando, wrestle in WWE NXT for a few years before transiting into a coaching role. The Observer notes that Ryan makes much more money working independent shows and also has much more creative control over his gimmick. He is also 39, and probably would have accepted the offer a decade ago.
In addition, The Observer notes that Ryan is expected to end up with All Elite Wrestling.
