Dustin Rhodes was reportedly let go from his WWE contract back on January 19 despite keeping the news to himself and claiming he wasn't.
In the latest edition of The Wrestling Observer Newsletter, it has been confirmed Rhodes was let out of his contract on that date, and as all departing talent was given a 90-day non-compete clause that ended on April 19.
Vince McMahon was reportedly against letting Rhodes leave, but Triple H was actually the one who talked him into it.
Rhodes had been out of action for some time dealing with double knee surgery, and with his contract coming up there was also the belief he would end up in All Elite Wrestling.
WWE did have the option of claiming back the eight months he was out for surgery and adding it on to his contract but decided not to.
