Former WWE Champion and UFC Fighter CM Punk has been praised by critics for his acting in the independent film 'Girl on the Third Floor'.
Premiering at SXSW, the film tells the story of father-to-be Don Kosch (Punk), who tries to renovate a house to make up for past mistakes, only to find out the house has other plans.Â
The Best in the World's acting was compared to Bruce Campbell, star of the Evil Dead franchise, by Variety.Â
"He’s another square-jawed wise guy who invariably ends up prey to splattery slapstick peril. It’s a fun star turn that easily carries most of the film, abetted by [director] Stevens’ deft assembly."
Popular review site filmschoolrejects.com also had high praise for Punk, who left the WWE in 2014.
"C.M. Punk does good work with the role as he’s an energetic and charismatic performer — who, not for nothing, resembles nothing less than the angry love child of Jon Hamm and Ted Raimi with his expressive antics here — walking a fine line with a character who earns our sympathy before threatening to lose it."
