On this day, March 17, in 2002, two icons met.
In one corner was Hollywood Hulk Hogan, the legendary star of the 1980s and early 90s, who had returned to the company one month prior.
In the other, was The Rock, the young star of the day who had garnered countless fans through his incredible matches and incomparable charisma.
In the Hulkster's first Mania since 1993, the former WWF Champion was eager to win, despite his nWo allies Hall and Nash nowhere to be seen.
But despite his best efforts, it was the Brahma Bull who emerged victorious, though Hogan had swung the crowd to his side through his hard work.
Post-match, Hogan would shake The Rock's hand, and would give the younger star his due.
An iconic match, many consider this the true main event of WrestleMania X8, though it didn't go on last.
That honor instead went to Triple H, who had returned from a torn quad to win the 2002 Royal Rumble and Undisputed Champion Chris Jericho.
In the main event, the Game upset the Fozzy frontman to capture the gold.
