Billy Gunn spoke with WINCLY Podcast recently regarding several AEW topics. Check out highlights below.
“To be honest with you, I don’t know. They were starting the company and they were looking for, I guess…they call me a head coach, we don’t use producer. My job will be to help the younger talent as we get going and I look forward to it. It’s gonna be awesome.”
“It’s exciting. If I thought it was daunting, then I don’t know if I would take the job because a don’t want to be a “daunter.” Those are Billyisms if you know the way I talk. We’re bringing talent that a lot of people have never heard of, or have heard of but not seen. Now we’re gonna give them a platform to be seen on and to get out and to be the best they can be.”
“I’m out looking and I make suggestions….I haven’t been looking all that hard, but I’m gonna start doing that. I just didn’t know where we were at the time of what they needed me to do out there. There’s a lot of good talent out there just waiting for their break… That’s all we did back in the day. They gave us an opportunity and we did the most with it.”
“I fit in pretty good. I think they’re looking to me for a little bit of guidance, not that they need it. It’s a camaraderie of everybody’s strong points. Cody has a direction. The Young Bucks have a direction. I’m just along for a ride and helping them in any way that I can. Their vision is why this company came together. They have an awesome vision and they’re gonna bring it to the public.”
“He’s super awesome. I’ve had a couple of conversations with him. I first met him at All In and I’ve seen him a few times after that. He’s just a super down-to-earth guy and he’s excited about all of this. That’s the best thing – the guy that’s putting this all together is super-excited about it. It’s not just a business venture, it’s a passion of his and he foresees great things happening.”
