As previously reported John Cena status for the Royal Rumble changed pretty quickly in recent days with WWE running an "injury" angle to write Cena off television and thus pull him from tonight's event despite his name still being advertised.
The believed reason for this is because Cena has filming commitments and could never actually appear at the event. The original plan was for NXT call-up Lars Sullivan to "injure" Cena and set up a WrestleMania match when he returned, but that never happened as Sullivan has yet to make his debut due to suffering an anxiety attack.
But today things have taken another turn because somebody at the arena has taken a photo of Cena's titantron video being tested on the set which would suggest he will be at the event in some capacity or even a surprise entrant in tonight's men's Royal Rumble match.
Cena’s titantron being tested at Chase Field, seems pretty likely his “injury” won’t stop him being at the Rumble. @davemeltzerWON pic.twitter.com/fW1oi6UFAV
