Former two-time ECW World Heavyweight Champion Tazz sent out the following Tweet:
20 years ago today I won my first major world championship. I would like to thank @TheFranchiseSD for the match and his creativity.
— TAZ (@OfficialTAZ) January 10, 2019
Thank you to @HeymanHustle for the special opportunity.
Lastly, thank you to all of the ECW fans worldwide. #SURVIVE
Although many younger fans might be more familiar with Tazz for his work as a ringside commentator for WWE and IMPACT Wrestling, Tazz was one of the most successful in-ring competitors of the 1990s. He was booked as an unstoppable "Human Suplex Machine" in Extreme Championship Wrestling, capturing the ECW World Heavyweight Championship on two occasions, the ECW Television Championship on two occasions, the ECW World Tag Team Championship on three occasions, and he even created his own "F--- the World" (FTW) Heavyweight Championship, very much along the lines of Ted DiBiase Sr.'s custom-made Million Dollar Championship in WWE.
