FOX Wants WWE To Get Serious With SmackDown Live In 2019

FOX recently paid a whopping $1 billion for the broadcasting rights to air WWE SmackDown Live from the fall of 2019 and it looks as if they are already wanting to get the best they can from the deal which will last for five years.

A new report released by the Wrestling Observer Newsletter notes that FOX is pushing WWE to present SmackDown as a much more serious brand and want them to drop the comedy elements.

The network has plans to create a "sports block" which run from Thursday through until Sunday. The plan is for NFL to air Thursday and Sunday and SmackDown on Friday.

FOX also want to promote SmackDown during other sporting events but need the company on board with a more serious approach.

Is this the end of The New Day on the blue brand?

SmackDown Live will premiere on FOX on Friday October 4th, 2019.
