The Rock is a busy man, arguably one of the busiest on the planet now that he's one of the biggest stars in Hollywood, but before all of that he trailblazing in WWE and was a cornerstone of the early years of the SmackDown brand, which launched in 1999.
The Rock actually came up with the "smackdown" phrase in 1998, and today on Twitter he told his followers how Vince McMahon liked it so much, he encouraged 'The Great One' to use it in a promo.
Huge #SD1000 congrats to my @WWE family!

Fun fact, in 1998, I said to @VinceMcMahon “I’m gonna use the word ‘Smackdown’ tonight in my promo”. He said what’s that mean? I said it means I’m gonna whup some ass. He belly laughed and said say it!
The rest was history! #IfYaSmell 🎤 https://t.co/IVXI0WkkGl
There have been reports over the last few weeks that WWE has been in negotiations with The Rock to appear on tonight's SmackDown 1000, only time will tell if he shows for one more blue brand moment!
