National Wrestling Alliance World Heavyweight Champion "The American Nightmare" Cody Rhodes defeated Juice Robinson for the NJPW IWGP United States Championship at New Japan Pro Wrestling's Fighting Spirit Unleashed event in Long Beach, California, making Cody a triple champion, as he also holds the Ring of Honor World Six-Man Tag Team Championships with The Young Bucks.
Robinson had been the NJPW IWGP United States Champion since July when he defeated "Switchblade" Jay White at the G1 Special in San Francisco.

Says tonight’s match was VERY personal due to people calling Juice one of “Dusty’s kids” in NXT, when he’s not one of Dusty’s ACTUAL kids. #NJFSU #NJPW pic.twitter.com/2vmDXA6X3l
Started the month by becoming @nwa Worlds Heavyweight Champion at #ALLIN, closed the month by becoming IWGP United States Champion at #njpwusa. Hell of a September for @CodyRhodes!
