CNN founder and former WCW owner Ted Turner revealed during an interview with CBS Sunday Morning that he has been diagnosed with a mild case of dementia. The interview will officially broadcast on Sunday at 9 AM EST on CBS.
Turner, 78 is best known to wrestling fans as the many who took control of Jim Crocket Promotions in 1988 and renamed it to World Championship Wrestling. WCW went on to become the number 1 wrestling promotion in the United States during the mid-90s competing against WWE until its demise in 2001 following a sale to AOL-Time Warner.
On the subject of his condition, he said, “It’s a mild case of what people have as Alzheimer’s, It’s similar to that. But not nearly as bad. Alzheimer’s is fatal. Thank goodness I don’t have that.” After a pause, Turner said, “Dementia. I can’t remember what my disease is.”
