WATCH: 26 Years Ago Today, Ron Simmons Became The First African-American World Champion

Today, August 2, marks 26 years since Ron Simmons captured the WCW Heavyweight Championship, becoming the first African-American World champion.

Defeating Vader at WCW's Main Event, Simmons was randomly selected as Vader's opponent after the original number-one contender Sting was not allowed to compete.
