Jinder Mahal's return to WWE in 2016 was originally going to see him become a 'Mahal Monitor', according to a tweet by Ryan Satin of Wrestling Sheet.
Satin said how the gimmick would've seen the modern-day Maharaja become a self-appointed authority figure.

Mahal returned in 2016, two years after his release, with an improved physique. He captured the WWE Championship at Backlash 2017 and the United States Championship at WrestleMania 34.Â
