WWE Monday Night Raw LIVE COVERAGE & RESULTS (07/16/2018)

General Manager Kurt Angle opens the show, addressing the Brock Lesnar/Universal Championship situation. Paul Heyman comes out on behalf of his client. Heyman says that Lesnar loves being in WWE and loves being the Universal Champion, and that his goal is to represent WWE in the UFC and try to become a two-sport World Heavyweight Champion. Heyman reluctantly agrees that Lesnar will have to defend the title at SummerSlam.

Bobby Lashley, Drew McIntyre, Finn Balor, Elias, Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns all come out. They all want a shot at Lesnar. Two Triple Threat Matches are announced for tonight. The first is Reigns vs. McIntyre vs. Balor.

ROMAN REIGNS VS. FINN BALOR VS. DREW MCINTYRE

After a very competitive Triple Threat, Reigns hits the Spear on Balor for the win.

Winner: Roman Reigns

Backstage, Kurt Angle informs Bayley that she'll be teaming up with Sasha Banks to take on Dana Brooke and Alicia Fox. He also says that if Sasha and Bayley can't learn to co-exist, one of them will end up having to be traded to SmackDown Live.

Dolph Ziggler is then shown with his Intercontinental Championship backstage.

Ziggler makes his way to the ring to cut a promo about his victory last night at Extreme Rules. Ziggler's promo is interrupted by "The Glorious One" Bobby Roode. Roode wants to challenge Ziggler for the I.C. Title right now. Ziggler accepts, and a referee comes out. Ziggler says that he'll wrestle Roode, but the title won't be on the line.

BOBBY ROODE VS. INTERCONTINENTAL CHAMPION DOLPH ZIGGLER IN A NON-TITLE MATCH

Roode goes for the Glorious DDT but Ziggler counters it into the Zig Zag. Roode BARELY kicks out before the three. Ziggler goes for the Superkick but Roode counters it into a catapult into the turnbuckle, followed by a Spinebuster. Ziggler kicks out though. Ziggler ends up hitting a Superkick out of nowhere for the win after Roode tweaked his knee after coming off the ropes.

Winner: Dolph Ziggler

Backstage, Bobby Lashley is shown warming up and cuts a quick promo saying that he has the skills and the ability to defeat Brock Lesnar for the Universal Championship at SummerSlam.

Roode is shown walking backstage after his loss, and Mojo Rawley says to him "And you're supposed to be 'Glorious'?".

MOJO RAWLEY VS. TYLER BREEZE

Mojo charges at Breeze right at the opening bell. Mojo hits Breeze with a huge Shoulder Tackle outside the ring. Breeze gets in a little bit of offense but then Mojo hits him with the old Monty Brown Pounce, followed by a running knockout punch in the corner and then the Bob Holly Alabama Slam for the win. Lots of aggression from Rawley in that match.

Winner: Mojo Rawley

BAYLEY AND SASHA BANKS VS. DANA BROOKE AND ALICIA FOX

Bayley and Alicia start things off. Alicia hits a hard kick on Bayley but she kicks out. Dana gets the tag now. Bayley starts to fight back against Dana. Dana Clotheslines Bayley. Sasha snaps and attacks both Fox and Brooke and the referee ends up calling for the bell. Sasha then walks to the back.

Winners by Disqualification: Alicia Fox and Dana Brooke

Backstage, Bayley wants to know what happened with Sasha. Sasha admits that she can't stand it when somebody else beats Bayley up. Sasha opens up and shares her feelings with Bayley, admitting that she loves her (presumably like a sister). Sasha then leaves.

Braun Strowman joins Renee Young for an interview. She asks him if he has any regrets about what he did to Kevin Owens last night at Extreme Rules. When asked about tonight's Triple Threat Matches, Strowman reminds everybody that he has the Money in the Bank briefcase, and can cash it in whenever he wants.

The new Raw Tag Team Champions, Bo Dallas and Curtis Axel, come out to a pretty decent reaction from the crowd.

RAW TAG TEAM CHAMPIONS BO DALLAS AND CURTIS AXEL VS. THE ASCENSION IN A NON-TITLE MATCH

As they return from commercial break, the match has already started, with The Ascension in control. Dash & Dawson are watching on a monitor in the locker room. Dallas and Viktor get the tag, and Viktor is getting the better of the exchange. Axel and Dallas end up hitting their double-team finish on Viktor for the win.

Winners: Curtis Axel and Bo Dallas

Former champions Matt Hardy and Bray Wyatt appear on the TitanTron, announcing that they're invoking their rematch clause on next week's Raw.

Mickie James and Raw Women's Champion Alexa Bliss are shown walking backstage, heading for the ring just before the commercial break.

Mickie and Alexa come out to the ring and Alexa cuts a promo about her victory over Nia Jax last night at Extreme Rules. Ronda Rousey comes out of the crowd and attacks Alexa and Mickie. Kurt Angle tells Ronda that her suspension is extended another week, but that she has a championship match against Alexa Bliss at SummerSlam, as long as she goes home and serves her suspension without attacking anybody again. Constable Baron Corbin is unhappy that Angle didn't punish Rousey further, and went to the back to notify Stephanie McMahon.

Seth Rollins does a backstage interview with Charly Caruso. Rollins talks about the Iron Man Match from Extreme Rules, as well as his hopes for SummerSlam.

THE AUTHORS OF PAIN VS. TITUS WORLDWIDE

Crews and Akam start the match. Akam gets the early advantage. Titus gets taken out and they continue to work over Apollo Crews. They finish him off with the Last Chapter. Total squash match victory for the AOP.

Winners: The Authors of Pain

Liv Morgan and Sarah Logan are heading for the arena, but they run into No Way Jose and his entourage backstage. They appear to be disgusted by them, but they continue to head for the arena right before the commercial break.

SARAH LOGAN VS. EMBER MOON

They do some mat-based wrestling for a while. Logan gets an advantage after knocking Ember off the top rope and out to the floor. Logan applies a Cobra Clutch. Ember catches Logan with a huge haymaker shot to the face. Suicide Dive by Ember. Logan kicks out at two. Ember was going for the Eclipse but Morgan distracted her, allowing Logan to knock her off the top rope and get the pinfall victory.

Winner: Sarah Logan

SETH ROLLINS VS. BOBBY LASHLEY VS. ELIAS

Before the match, Elias performs a song.

Elias sneak attacks Rollins while Lashley was making his entrance.

Elias was going for a Powerbomb but Rollins turned it into a Hurricanrana. Elias quickly answers with a flying knee to the face right before they go to commercial break. Back from break, Elias is still in control of Rollins but now Lashley is back in the match and is cleaning house. Rollins went for a Suicide Dive on Elias but Elias just shrugged it off. Elias hits a Flying Elbow Drop on Lashley and then Rollins appears out of nowhere with a Frog Splash. Elias throws Rollins out and goes for the pin but Lashley kicks out. Rollins with a Blockbuster on Elias but he kicks out. Rollins does the Buckle Bomb on Lashley, immediately followed by the Superplex/Falcon Arrow combo on Elias. Rollins hits the Curb Stomp on Elias but Lashley breaks up the pinfall. Lashley hits Elias with a Spear for the win.

It will be Bobby Lashley vs. Roman Reigns next week on Raw to determine who will challenge Brock Lesnar for the Universal Championship at SummerSlam.

Winner: Bobby Lashley
