Glenn 'Kane' Jacobs has said he told Vince McMahon almost immediately, after he decided to run for Mayor of Knox County, Tennessee.
In an interview with the Independent Journal Review, Jacobs said he told Vince because of their close personal friendship.
He said: "I needed his support just as a friend. ... Vince has got a vision. From the very beginning. And you just can't discount that."
The former World Champion won the mayoral primary for the Republican nomination earlier this year, by just 17 votes.
If successful, Kane will join the likes of Jesse Ventura as wrestlers who went into politics, as well as current president and WWE Hall of Famer Donald Trump.
The Devil's favorite demon dismissed ideas that he would run for any higher political office than mayor.
"I just feel a lot more can be accomplished at the local and the state level than can be accomplished at the federal level. I don't really have any interest in ever [running for President.]"
Kane also spoke about rumored plans for the Rock to run for President in 2024, once again saying fans were "never going to see a Kane part of that."
