According to a report from Tokyo Sports, female Japanese star Io Shirai, a standout in the World Wonder Ring Stardom promotion, will be reporting to the WWE Performance Center shortly after her final Stardom show on June 17th.
The 28-year-old Shirai was originally contacted by WWE back in 2016, but when they brought her in for a physical examination in June of 2017, they discovered that she had both a neck injury and a heart issue. She was later cleared by doctors in Japan, but WWE's doctors suggested that WWE not sign her, so WWE ended up passing on her.
Shirai has enjoyed tremendous success in Stardom, having won numerous championships, tournaments and awards. She is also the first Grand Slam Champion in the promotion's history.
