Former WWE and TNA Superstar Hornswoggle has said being told to avoid contact sports is what fueled him to become a professional wrestler.
Speaking on "The Two Man Power Trip of Wrestling Podcast", Hornswoggle (real name Dylan Postl) said he was told never to compete in contact sports, after a back surgery at 6-years-old left him paralyzed for three months.
He said: "Two years into my WWE contract my back doctor called my Dad and said 'he didn’t listen to me' and my Dad said 'he didn’t listen to me either' and they kind of laughed and he said well at least he’s happy and living his dream."
Debuting as the midget sidekick of Finlay, Postl gained main-event exposure, when he was revealed to be the illegitimate son of Mr. McMahon.
"I think it kind of exceeded my expectations because I didn’t know where it was going and I had no idea," he said of the storyline.
"Obviously, it ended in a different way than most people would have thought and maybe it ended abruptly but I was happy with it."
Postl also spoke on his WeeLC match against El Torito at Extreme Rules 2014, describing it as a career highlight and the best match on the card.
"I’ve gotten a little bit of heat for saying that in other interviews but it was. It was better than the Shield vs. Evolution and it was better than everything on that card and I know it was."
