Mick Foley: I Lied To Vince About Hell In A Cell

Mick Foley has admitted he lied to Vince McMahon about his confidence, before his infamous Hell In A Cell match against the Undertaker at King of the Ring 1998.

In an interview with Sports Illustrated, Foley described what he said as one of the biggest lies of his life.

He said: "I told him that I felt completely comfortable up there."

"Had I gone up there for a walk-through, there would be no twentieth anniversary because I would have realized that getting thrown off was a terrible idea.”

The Hardcore Icon said how the now-historic match made him finally believe in his own mortality, and the danger of such matches.

"That cleared the way for a very different Mankind character who feuded with and later teamed with The Rock," Foley told SI.
