Lex Luger has said that Vince McMahon was just as shocked as fans, when he appeared on the debut episode of WCW Monday Nitro.
Speaking on Terri Runnels' 'Cigars, Scars and Superstars Podcast', Luger said that he was not allowed to let McMahon know he was leaving.
He said: "Sting and Eric Bischoff had talked to me and decided to bring me in, but under one condition was that I couldn’t tell Vince McMahon."
"We [McMahon] were friends, so I was very uncomfortable with it even back then, but I decided that it was a good opportunity, and was a way to feed my family."
The master of the Lex Express also said how the big reveal left the WWF scrambling to edit existing footage.
"They were shocked just as much as the fans. They had to pull me out of their TV shows that they already taped" he said.
Luger appeared on the debut episode of Nitro, during a match between Sting and Ric Flair.
Lex also told Terri how at the time, he felt the jump to WCW was the right decision.
"I had so many friends in WCW, with Sting and the other wrestlers, so I really felt at home there."
