We recently reported that Batista was in discussions with WWE to return as Ronda Rousey’s partner at WrestleMania 34, but it wasn't clear as to why talks fell through given Batista has been open to returning to the company for a while now. There was speculation that he turned down the role because he rather a singles match, but that now doesn't appear to be the case.
In an update from Pro Wrestling Sheet they note that Batista had a number of conversations with Triple H about the role and it seemed as if things were going will with the report also noting that it could plant the seeds for a match with Triple H at WrestleMania 35, which Dave has been open to for some time.
It seems talks abruptly stopped in January with Batista feeling like he would be at this year's WrestleMania, but apparently, he never heard back from Triple H or WWE about the match. Kurt Angle was then given the role as Rousey's partner and Batista wasn't kept in the loop on any of the changes.
