Former New Japan Pro Wrestling IWGP World Heavyweight Champion, Tag Team Champion, and NEVER Openweight Champion Togi Makabe has suffered a knee injury and will be forced to miss this weekend's NJPW events.
The following comes from NJPW1972.com:
Acting under medical advice following damage sustained to his right knee, Togi Makabe was absent from March 9’s New Japan Cup opening night in Korakuen Hall. Makabe will also be absent from Saturday March 10 in Aichi until Monday March 12 in Takamatsu. A decision will then be made as to his further participation on the New Japan Cup tour.
Changes have been made to the March 10, 11 and 12 cards accordingly. We apologise to fans who were looking forward to seeing Makabe wrestle, and appreciate your understanding.
