During an interview with Bloomberg Businessweek, Stephanie McMahon was asked whether there is a possibility WWE could be sold to a large media organization, those previously rumored include Disney, 21st Century Fox and Amazon. She said, "We've certainly thought about it. It would be foolish not to", even more intriguing was her liking of WWE's business model to that of Disney:
"There was a time when it came across as seedy, kind of playing to barroom brawls. [Now] our lines of business are really more akin to Disney than they are to anything else."
WWE has an important 18-months ahead with their broadcasting rights up for renewal and USA Network facing a battle to retain both RAW and SmackDown Live. In addition, Vince McMahon's new business venture Alpha Entertainment will be proceeding with the relaunch of the XFL, which some have suggested is the catalyst to WWE being sold very soon.
