The talent and depth of the tag team division in Ring of Honor is unmatched anywhere in the sport. Here are the top 5 tag teams in ROH history, based on achievement, talent and longevity in ROH:
5. THE ADDICTION
Â
Christopher Daniels has held the ROH World Tag Team Championship with three different partners, but his alliance with Frankie Kazarian is by far the most impactful. Using a combination of superior skills, savvy and subterfuge, The Addiction have won the ROH World Tag Team Titles on two occasions. Unfortunately for Daniels and Kazarian, their disruptive actions in recent months led to ROH COO Joe Koff announcing that when their contracts expire at Final Battle 2018, they are finished in ROH.
Â
4. THE KINGS OF WRESTLING
Â
Claudio Castagnoli and Chris Hero won their first ROH World Tag Team Championship in 2006 by dethroning Austin Aries and Roderick Strong, who at that time were the longest-reigning champions in the company’s four-year history. The Kings only held the titles for a couple months, but their second reign would be historic. Castagnoli and Hero defeated The Briscoes for the titles on April 3, 2010 and went on to hold them for 363 days, which remains the record for longest tag team title reign in ROH.
Â
3. reDRagon
Â
Kyle O’Reilly (a former ROH World Champion) and Bobby Fish (a former ROH World Television Champion) both enjoyed significant success as singles wrestlers, but as a team they truly had few peers. From 2013-2015, reDRagon held the ROH World Tag Team Titles three times. Their third reign lasted 322 days, which is the second-longest tag team title reign in ROH history, and their combined 672 days as tag team champions are the second-most. In addition to their success in ROH, reDRagon also won New Japan Pro-Wrestling’s IWGP Junior Heavyweight Tag Team Titles twice.
Â
2. THE YOUNG BUCKS
Â
Matt and Nick Jackson certainly have an impressive resume in ROH, including three reigns as tag team champions totaling nearly 400 days (in addition to being the current Six-Man Tag Team champs with Adam Page). But The Young Bucks’ lofty standing in the sport goes beyond championships and statistics. With their innovative, high-flying and fast-paced style, The Young Bucks -- who also are seven-time IWGP Junior Heavyweight Tag Team Champions -- have taken tag team wrestling to new levels of excitement and prominence. And as members of the incredibly popular Elite faction within Bullet Club, The Young Bucks’ brand has crossed over into the realm of pop culture.
Â
1. THE BRISCOES
Â
No disrespect to any other tag team on this list, but there was never any doubt as to who would be in the top spot. Jay and Mark Briscoe have been the standard-bearers for tag team wrestling in ROH for 15 years. “Dem Boys” from Sandy Fork, Del., have won the ROH World Tag Team Titles eight times and held them for a combined 807 days -- both of which are records that may never be broken. Devoting more time to their singles careers the past few years, the Briscoes -- who’ve also been IWGP Heavyweight Tag Team Champions -- last held the ROH World Tag Team Titles in 2013, but the ultra-violent duo made it clear recently that they are laser-focused on capturing the titles for the ninth time.
