WWE United States Title Tournament Finals Nixed From The Royal Rumble

The official WWE website has confirmed that the finals of the WWE United States Title tournament will no longer be taking place at the Royal Rumble pay-per-view on January 28.

The finals will now take place on SmackDown Live episode from the Capital One Arena in Washington, DC on January 23.

A Semi-finals match between Xavier Woods vs. Jinder Mahaland Bobby Roode vs. Mojo Rawley will take place on tonight's episode. The reason the finals have been moved from the Royal Rumble is due to WWE reportedly wanting the winner crowned on January 23 to face Dolph Ziggler at the Royal Rumble. 

Ziggler was relinquished his United States title after he left the title in the middle of the ring on SmackDown Live a few weeks ago and this was confirmed by General Manager Daniel Bryan in the video below.
