On tonight's edition of WWE Raw, General Manager Kurt Angle interrupted an in-ring segment by Braun Strowman to announce that due to Strowman's actions against both Kane and Universal Champion Brock Lesnar on last week's broadcast, he would no longer be competing for Lesnar's championship in the Triple Threat Match at the upcoming Royal Rumble event, which also involves Kane. Furthermore, also because of his actions, Strowman was also fired from WWE.
Angle stated that he was responsible for every single Raw Superstar, as well as every backstage employee who works for the broadcast, before stating that a Universal Championship would still be taking place at the Royal Rumble, but that it wouldn't involve Strowman.
