Pontiac Silverdome Implosion Attempt Fails

It's being reported that a partial implosion attempt to demolish the legendary Pontiac Silverdome in Michigan has failed. Rick Cuppetilli, Executive Vice President of the demolition company known as Adamo, notes that the blasts did cause some damage to the Silverdome and it could still end up falling, but they are not sure how long that might take. According to Cuppetilli, about 10% of the explosives they had in place failed to detonate due to wiring issues.

As many wrestling fans are well aware, the Pontiac Silverdome was home to WWE's iconic WrestleMania III event, which was where Hulk Hogan Bodyslammed Andre the Giant and then defeated him with a Running Leg Drop to retain the WWE Championship with approximately 93,000 people in attendance.

Excavators are going to try to complete the job this week, assuming that the Silverdome doesn't collapse on its own after taking the damage from the explosives.
