Backstage Reaction to Kane Beating Finn Balor on Raw

Many fans were surprised last night when "The Big Red Monster" Kane defeated former Universal Champion and NXT Champion Finn Balor on Monday Night Raw in convincing fashion.

Apparently there were a lot of people backstage in WWE who were perplexed by the decision as well. According to Dave Meltzer of The Wrestling Observer Newsletter, he talked to a few people within WWE about it, and even those who usually try to defend WWE's booking decisions found it difficult to justify having Kane get a clean and decisive victory over Finn Balor like that.

ProWrestlingSheet.com's Ryan Satin speculates that perhaps it's all part of a storyline that WWE is working on where regular Finn Balor struggles to defeat major adversaries and he has to become "The Demon King" in order to defeat WWE's top Superstars. Again, this is purely speculation.
