PWInsider.com has provided more details on the backstage situation involving former two-time WWE Cruiserweight Champion Neville.
First, according to their report, Neville did not "walk out" at Raw. Their report says that Neville was never even backstage for the show, nor did he work any events over the weekend.
Neville was indeed penciled in to be the one to challenge Enzo Amore for the Title on Raw, but those plans were changed when it was made apparent that Neville was not there and wasn't going to be there. Kalisto was put in Neville's place and it was decided that it would be nice to put the Title on Kalisto that night in memory of the late Eddie Guerrero on what would have been Eddie's 50th birthday. Eddie was legitimately one of Kalisto's inspirations to get in the wrestling business so the decision was made to have Kalisto win the Title in honor of Eddie.
As far as Neville asking for his release, it's now being reported that this is something he's been requesting for a while now. Apparently his idea is to leave, reinvent himself elsewhere, and then come back to WWE at some point, much like Drew McIntyre has done.
One reason why Neville has been unhappy in recent months was reportedly due to the fact that his Cruiserweight Title Match against Austin Aries at the WrestleMania pre-show was left off of the WrestleMania DVD, which meant that they didn't get any DVD royalties for the show.
