According to a report from The Wrestling Observer Newsletter, tentative plans call for Jinder Mahal to hold the WWE Championship for quite a while longer.
Unless things change, WWE had planned on having Mahal hold the WWE Championship until WrestleMania 34. If that is still the plan then obviously it means that we won't be seeing Shinsuke Nakamura win the WWE Championship at the upcoming Hell in a Cell pay-per-view.
It's worth noting that WWE is scheduled to do a tour of India in December. It is possible that Mahal could drop the title before that tour and then regain it during the tour in front of the Indian fans.
