Injury To Big Cass Revealed To Be Torn ACL And Possible Medial Meniscus Tear, Will Require Surgery

Posted By: Kenny Williams on Aug 22, 2017

As previously reported, WWE Superstar Big Cass suffered an injury to his left knee on Monday night's edition of Raw while competing in a Brooklyn Street Fight against Enzo Amore. The injury occurred as Enzo dodged a big boot attempt from Cass by pulling down the top rope, which caused Cass to land outside the ring to the floor awkwardly on his knee.

In an update, WWE has confirmed via WWE.com that Cass has undergone an initial MRI, which has revealed that he has suffered a torn ACL and a possible medial meniscus tear. As a result, Cass will undergo surgery sometime this week and is scheduled to undergo a more extensive MRI on Wednesday to determine what the full extent of the damage to his knee is. It was also noted in WWE's announcement that a typical ACL tear takes approximately nine months to heal from.

Below is WWE's official announcement:

"An initial MRI of Big Cass' left knee shows that he will require surgery.

'It looks like he has an ACL tear, possibly a medial meniscus tear, but we’re going to wait for the radiologist to evaluate the MRI and give us their full report,' WWE ringside physician Dr. Chris Robinson said.

The seven-footer will be undergoing surgery this week to repair the damage, which will be the start of a long road back to the squared circle.

'A typical ACL tear takes about nine months [to recover from],' Robinson said.

Big Cass suffered the injury to his left knee during the Brooklyn Street Fight against Enzo Amore on Raw. The injury occurred after Amore dodged a big boot by pulling down the top rope, sending Cass to the floor in the process.

'It’s hard to tell what the extent of the injury is, but we’re going to send him to get an MRI tomorrow and figure that out,' said WWE ringside physician Dr. Chris Robinson.

Stay with WWE.com as more details about Cass’ condition are revealed."
