Today is a really special day for me, my partner and my wonderful team. WrestlingNewsSource.com is celebrating 11 years online! That's right, some 4015 days ago Krysti and I co-founded Wrestling-Radio.com which transitioned into WrestlingNewsSource.com. We've seen the internet change drastically in the last decade and the rise of social media has been a phenemoneial influence on what we do. I remember when we started we were utilizing MySpace bulletins for reach. The game has evolved hugely since then, our focus, however, has always to provide a community which ultimately brings the enjoyment of our readers.
I thought hard about what I would write today and given we celebrated a decade online last year, I figured the history of how we came to be would be a bore, not that I'm suggesting the Ben's Founding Fathers, Jp Griffin and Joe Nee are not interesting in any way but ya know THE GAME HAS CHANGED! ;)
This year, I'm thanking my co-partner, K Aeronwyn Fairchild (Krysti). She won't thank me for the attention but you've got to realize for all I do or have done for the last 11 years she has been right there behind the scenes working just as hard, if not harder. There is an old saying, "Behind every great man is a great woman", as conceited as that sounds it's true. Anything I ever achieved or pursued online has always been supported by Krysti, a firm, loyal and trusting co-founder - my friend. For those who don't know Krysti, and trust me you may never, she is the "coder" of the website, the technical arm, she makes "the shit tick" (I think she would say something like that) lol.
Krysti took me under her wing in around 2005, I was a mere 14 years of age, she was "older" and I don't want to offend and say significantly but the gap was something which would raise eyebrows in today's uber sensitive world. However, I like to think she saw a maturity in me at that early stage to manage the operational side of a website, bearing in mind we had no idea how big it would become. In fact, it all started when she designed a very basic website for a boy who wanted to bring wrestling fans news. "WWETOYA" (yes really!) may have long since been abandoned, along with that dreadful interview with Hillbilly Jim's Nephew (we never established if he was) but that is where I started, and I'm proud. I grew up with my work, I learned the hard way, made mistakes along the way but hopefully have learned a thing or two, much in thanks to Krysti!
So please, when liking and commenting on this post take the time to Thank not just me, my team but Krysti because the truth is without her there would be no WNS as we know it and I'm not sure I would want to do it without her. She is tireless in her approach, passionate about her work and ultimately it's all for the benefit of our readers, our fans, and wonderful friends.
I also want to thank the wider team, we have many people working on different features on the site from live coverage, podcasting and news reporting and social media and while many have come and gone, there is a core who have remained very loyal to me, they know who they are and how much I love and appreciate them. Caylon, has been by my side for at least 12 years (poor him) he pre-dates anything W-R/WNS. He knows where the bodies are buried ;), Elio my faithful live coverage guy, I love him like a brother, he has battled many health issued but put WNS at the forefront, he is just amazing. Kenny who has been a solid fixture on news reporting and kept Monday nights and PPV's buzzing with news, such a reliable support!, Mike, who is well JUST MIKE :P - the most lovable, entertaining and fun guy I could ever ask to work with and calla friend, Jonathan "can't take him anywhere" Escudero & Peter who are great friends of the site and personal support, I couldn't be without them. My dear friends, Daniel and Tyler, who keep you entertained with their insanely awesome WNS Podcast every week. I also want to thank Doug who departed the WNS Podcast recently after several years, he really is a great guy, so insightful and has brought joy to many listeners over the years. Paul, who I have so much respect for. His contributions to social media are much appreciated. SUPER Mario! Who decided to return to WNS after departing several years ago, madman! Tifanie and Josette also THANK YOU for being the over the years, I know you have supported Krysti in some way or another. More recently we have welcomed, Divyan, Jake, Randy, Caleb, Josh, Braeden, Martin, David, Jeffrey, Anthony who have all contributed significantly and hopefully will continue to do so in the future - THANK YOU!
I also want to pay tribute to the late great Shawn Moniz who we sadly lost a few weeks ago, he was so supportive of myself and WNS and a great friend who I miss talking to dearly. R.I.P x
What is the future of WNS? - Good question. The landscape of professional wrestling continues to change and dictate our direction. We have just this week introduced a new and improved interface which is slick if I do say so myself! We also have been working on a new project, which I won't say too much about at the moment but it's going to take WNS interaction to new levels, you'll also be in control :o
In conclusion, I want to last but not least thank our readers, our fans, the people who really make the website come alive. Your support over the last 11 years has been nothing short of amazing. I'm often defined by my website, by my love and passion of professional wrestling and it's all supported by you! You've given me so much joy and a few headaches :P but I/we do this for YOU and will continue to do so. Thank you for being loyal. Thank you for being fans.
HAPPY 11TH BIRTHDAY WNS!
THANK YOU!
