WWE Monday Night Raw LIVE COVERAGE & RESULTS (08/21/2017)

1. The show opens with Paul Heyman and his client, the WWE Universal Champion, "The Beast Incarnate" Brock Lesnar. Heyman and Lesnar both appear to be in good spirits. Heyman reminds everybody that Brock Lesnar is still the reigning, defending, undisputed WWE Universal Champion. Heyman talks about how Lesnar returned to the ring last night at SummerSlam after he was carried out on a stretcher and proceeded to win the Fatal 4-Way Match by pinning Roman Reigns. Heyman says there's nobody in WWE or UFC who can stop Brock Lesnar. And here comes "The Monster Among Men" Braun Strowman. Strowman tries to Chokeslam Lesnar but Lesnar gets out of it, only to be knocked down by Strowman. Lesnar then receives two Running Powerslams from Strowman, who then picks up Lesnar's Universal Championship. Strowman then leaves the ring after getting the better of Brock Lesnar in this confrontation.

2. Enzo Amore vs. "Big Cass" Colin Cassady in a Street Fight

Big Cass makes his entrance first. Here comes Enzo Amore. Enzo cuts a pre-match promo on Cass. Enzo goes backstage and comes back out with a shopping card full of weapons. Cass immediately charges at Enzo and takes control early on. Cass throws Enzo into the barricade. Cass offers Enzo a steel chair and Enzo picks it up but Cass immediately catches him with a Big Boot to the face as they take a commercial break. They return from break and Cass is still dominating Enzo. Enzo hits Cass with a big right hand but it has little effect. Cass went for another Big Boot but Enzo ducked and Cass went flying over the top rope. He may have injured his knee. Cass gets back in the ring though but his knee is giving him problems. The referee has called for the bell. It's announced that Big Cass cannot continue due to injury and the winner is Enzo Amore.

3. Backstage segment with Emma and Dana Brooke. Emma says she deserves a title shot. She then starts talking smack about Nia Jax, unaware that Nia is standing right behind her. She finally realizes it and then Nia tells her that #GiveEmmaCPR will be trending worldwide after their match tonight.

4. Nia Jax vs. Emma

Nia is out first, then Emma. Emma slaps Nia and starts attacking her but Nia quickly overpowers her. Emma tries to make a bit of a comeback but Nia catches her with a Samoan Drop for a quick victory.

After the match, Elias Samson is shown walking backstage and Michael Cole says that Elias is going to debut a new song after the commercial break.

5. They return from the commercial break and "The Drifter" Elias Samson is sitting in the middle of the ring, ready to perform a song with his guitar. Samson sings a song about R-Truth but gets interrupted by Truth.

6. R-Truth vs. "The Drifter" Elias Samson

Truth is fired up and gets the better of Elias early on. Elias catches Truth with a shot to the back and then hits his Drift Away Suplex for a rather quick victory over the former United States Champion R-Truth. After the match it's announced that Raw General Manager Kurt Angle will be out next after the commercial break.

7. Kurt Angle comes out and announces that his surprise is the Raw return of 16-time WWE World Champion John Cena. Cena comes out to a pretty loud reaction from the Brooklyn crowd. Cena says he came to Raw to be face-to-face with a certain WWE Superstar. Roman Reigns then comes out to confront John Cena. Cena says that Reigns was exactly who Cena was looking for. Reigns says that Cena only looks for him when he's running his mouth on Twitter. Reigns dares Cena to run his mouth to his face. Cena says he didn't come here to talk. It appears as though they're about to fight but then The Miz's music hits. Out comes Miz, Maryse, Curtis Axel, and Bo Dallas. Miz starts cutting a promo on both Cena and Reigns and the crowd seems very supportive of Miz. Miz asks the fans if Raw needs John Cena and the majority of the crowd says "NO!" Cena goes to leave but Miz stops him. Miz says he deserves his moment and the crowd starts chanting "YOU DESERVE IT!" Cena says he has an idea. Cena proposes a Tag Team Match of The Miz and either Axel or Dallas against Cena and Reigns. Out comes "The Destroyer" Samoa Joe. Joe says that he wants to be the one to team with The Miz to take on John Cena and Roman Reigns. Joe ends up attacking Cena while Miztourage tries to attack Reigns. Cena and Reigns fight back. Cena tries to A.A. Joe but Joe turns it into the Coquina Clutch. Reigns breaks it up with a Superman Punch and Reigns and Cena stand tall in the ring.

8. Eight-Man Cruiserweight Tag Team Match

The babyfaces were getting the better of Ariya Daivari and Daivari went for a tag but Noam Dar refused to tag in. Tony Nese makes the tag instead and takes control as they head to commercial break. Gulak is in control of Swann as they return from break. Big Enzuigiri by Swann. He tags Cedric while Gulak tags Nese. Cedric is on fire. Gran Metalik takes out Daivari and Gulak with a Moonsault to the outside of the ring. Lumbar Check from Cedric to Nese for the pinfall victory.

9. Backstage, Charly Caruso is interviewing the new Cruiserweight Champion Adrian Neville about his feud with Akira Tozawa. Tozawa and Titus O'Neil appear and tell Neville that Tozawa wants his contractual rematch tomorrow night on 205 Live.

10. In Kurt Angle's office, Jason Jordan tells Kurt Angle that he wants a match against former Universal Champion Finn Balor tonight on Raw. Angle approves it.

11. Back in the arena now, the new Raw Tag Team Champions Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins make their way to the ring, albeit with separate entrances. Ambrose and Rollins are cutting a promo in the ring and they say that it's time to party and everybody is invited except for Cesaro and Sheamus. Here come The Hardy Boyz. The Hardys challenge Ambrose and Rollins and the challenge is accepted. A referee comes out just as they fade to commercial.

12. Raw Tag Team Champions Dean Ambrose & Seth Rollins vs. The Hardy Boyz

As they return from commercial break, the bell rings and it's Ambrose and Matt starting things out. In comes Jeff. They double-team Ambrose. In comes Rollins. They double-team Jeff. Matt's back in now and they double-team Seth. Seth takes control of Matt and then tags Dean. They work over Matt until Matt tags Jeff. Both teams try to get the advantage but it's a stalemate. The Hardy Boyz get the upper hand as they go to commercial break. Back from commercial now, Seth is trying to tag Dean but Jeff wouldn't allow it. Seth kicks Jeff and then they both tag their respective partners. Ambrose is on fire now. Poetry in Motion over the top rope by The Hardys to both Ambrose and Rollins outside the ring. Jeff goes for Whisper in the Wind on Ambrose but Rollins got Dean out of the way. Ambrose and Rollins in control now. Ambrose and Jeff in the ring right now and Jeff is in a bad way. Ambrose has a modified Regal Stretch on Jeff. Seth is back in now and Jeff continues to get worked over. Ambrose back in now. Rollins back in now. Lots of quick tags. Whisper in the Wind on both Ambrose and Rollins. Matt finally gets the tag and he's on fire. Hardys get knocked out of the ring and Ambrose and Rollins fly to take them both out. Side Effect on Rollins on the ring apron. Side Effect on Ambrose but Dean kicks out. Twist of Fate on Ambrose, Jeff goes for the Swanton, Dean gets his knees up. Rollins catches Jeff with a knee to the face, Ambrose hits Dirty Deeds, Rollins pins Jeff for the win.

13. Backstage, Miz is telling Samoa Joe that he's excited to team with him but Joe is hearing none of it. Joe tells Miz and Miztourage to do their normal routine but makes it clear that he is not part of The Miz's Miztourage.

14. Out comes the new Raw Women's Champion, "The Boss" Sasha Banks. Sasha starts cutting a promo on Alexa Bliss and out comes the former Women's Champion. Sasha is ready to give Alexa her mandatory rematch tonight but Alexa declines. She says she wants to have her rematch next week.

15. Jason Jordan vs. Finn Balor

Jason comes out to a new remixed version of his theme song and they take a commercial break. Back from break now, the former Universal Champion Finn Balor has entered the ring and the match is on. Jason Jordan gets the early advantage with his amateur wrestling skills. Jordan is using a lot of technical, mat-based wrestling to control Balor here. But Balor catches him with a huge Dropkick. Balor is in control now. Big slam by Jordan but Finn kicks out. Balor Clotheslines him over the top rope and tries to attack by Jason gets back in the ring as they take a commercial break. Back from break, Balor is in control but Jordan gets him down and turns the match around. Jordan appears to be getting more focused now. Double Underhook Suplex by Jordan but Balor kicks out. Jordan with a Butterfly Lock now on Balor. Balor is making a big comeback now. Belly-to-Belly by Jordan. Jordan went for his finish but Balor countered it. Overhead Kick now by Balor and they're both down. Jordan is throwing him from corner to corner. Balor answers with a Sling Blade and a big Dropkick. Coup de Grâce by Balor for the win.

16. WWE Intercontinental Champion The Miz & "The Destroyer" Samoa Joe vs. John Cena & "The Big Dog" Roman Reigns

Miz and Joe enter the arena first. Then comes John Cena. Finally, here comes Roman Reigns. They take a commercial break. Back from break, Cena quickly takes down Miz. Joe gets the tag. Joe is working over Cena now in the corner. Miz gets the tag. Miz continues to work over Cena. Big Clothesline by Cena on Miz. Cena was playing with the crowd and then Miz caught him with a DDT but Cena kicked out. Joe gets the tag now. Cena is stuck in Joe and Miz's corner. Double Ax Handle Smash by Miz on Cena. Miz goes for the corner Clothesline but Cena moves. Reigns gets the tag. Reigns is working over Joe now. Big Boot from Reigns to Joe. Uranage by Joe on Reigns. Miz gets the tag. Bo Dallas Clotheslines Reigns while the ref is distracted. Miz did the YES! Kicks on Reigns but Reigns answers with a big Powerbomb. Joe gets the tag and prevents Roman from tagging Cena. Reigns tries to fight back but joe shuts him down with a big Enzuigiri. Miz gets the tag now. Miz throws Roman outside the ring but Roman attacks Bo and Axel. Roman tags Cena. Shoulder Tackles on Miz, Protoplex, Cena goes for the Shuffle but Joe stops him and locks in the Clutch. Reigns accidentally hits Cena with a Superman Punch and then Roman and Joe end up outside the ring. Miz goes for the Skull-Crushing Finale but Cena counters it into the Attitude Adjustment for the win.
