A few weeks ago it was reported that Anthem and GFW's attempt at filing the trademarks for the "Broken Hardys" gimmick was rejected by the United States Patent and Trademark Office. It's now being reported that WWE's attempt at filing for it has also been rejected by the USPTO.
It's being reported that one of the reasons for this is because it conflicts with Matt Hardy's previous filing, although WWE reportedly got permission from both Matt and Jeff to try to file for it again. But because Matt himself filed for it first, neither WWE nor GFW have been able to successfully file for it.
Because WWE has now gotten the permission from Matt and Jeff, this could mean that WWE might be able to successfully file for it on their next attempt.
